your load - secure your load

management wishes to remind all valued customers that it is vital for
all loads, to or from, the site to be covered or secured. It is illegal
as well as dangerous to have an insecure load; projecting load; or
have liquid, loose or waste material escape onto the road.
We are
concerned that the area may be targeted for inspections of vehicles
and trailers and that our customers may incur expensive fines.
Please
ensure that your loads are adequately covered/secured at all times.
Fines
for vehicles 4.5 tonnes and under:
Drive or
tow vehicle with insecure load - min $283
Drive or
tow vehicle with load causing instability - min $283
Drive vehicle
with projecting load/equipment - min $123
Unstable/unsafe
or insecure loads can incur fines of min $283 for either/both driver
and owner.
Drive load
with insufficient view - min $169
There is
the Environmental Offence:
Fail to
sufficiently cover load - min $500
Heavy
Vehicles

over 4.5t GVM - Insecure load - min $565
The RTA
has advised that breaches for insecure or uncovered loads by heavy vehicles
will incur far larger penalties than for small vehicles above; as determined
by a magistrate.
Litter

lit cigarette from a vehicle - min $200
Deposit
litter from vehicle - min $200 - $400
Deposit
litter, for example syringe, or lit cigarette in dangerous circumstances
- min $375 - $750 (this is aggravated litter which is section 145A
of the POEO Act).
Dumping
Road side
or bushland dumping would be enforced by either:
- a clean
up notice or direction which attracts a min $320 fee or
- under
S.143 Unlawful transporting of waste, the fines are min $750 (individual)
/ min $1500 (company).
These are
increased to min $1500 (individual) and min $5000 (company) IF
the waste exceeds tonnes or 1 cubic metre or is asbestos or hazardous
waste.
