Narrabeen Lagoon Flood Study

Warringah Council is working in partnership with Pittwater Council to develop a new Flood Study, Floodplain Risk Management Study and Floodplain Risk Management Plan for Narrabeen Lagoon - in accordance with the NSW Floodplain Development Manual (2005).
The NSW State Government Office of Environment and Heritage provides technical and financial assistance to councils for the Flood Studies, Floodplain Risk Management Studies and Plans.
The Flood Study for Narrabeen Lagoon Catchment will include investigations into sources of flooding, such as from the ocean, estuaries and rivers. The impacts on flood behaviour from sea level rise and changes to rainfall intensity will also be investigated.
The project is split into five stages:
1. Data Compilation and Review – July 2011
2. Hydrological Modelling – October 2011
3. Hydraulic Modelling – April 2012
4. Climate Change Analysis – August 2012
5. Draft Flood Study & Public Exhibition - October 2012
The Final Flood Study will be available in March 2013.
A Narrabeen Lagoon Flood Study project webpage has been developed to provide further information.
