Freshwater is part of the Manly-Freshwater National and World Surfing Reserve that recognises the historical, cultural and environmental values of famous surfing beaches.
Warringah Council held a community celebration for the World Surfing Reserve dedication in April, 2012. See the pictures.

Conditions
Good family beach with good swimming conditions and excellent body boarding at the south end. Best with north east wind conditions.
Parking
Freshwater has parking available that is free for vehicles displaying Warringah Council parking stickers and pay 'n' display is available for those without. The cost for pay 'n' display parking is:
- Monday to Friday - $5 an hour or $8 all day
- Weekends - $25 all day
There are designated disabled car spaces available.
