ROAD SAFETY EDUCATION

In 2007, there were 766 crashes in Warringah.  342 people were injured, and two people died.

Everyone using the roads has a responsibility to themselves and their fellow road users – be they drivers, pedestrians, motorcyclists or cyclists – to use the roads legally and safely.

Warringah Council’s Road Safety Education program is part of a state-wide framework with the collective aim of reducing the road toll. Improving driver behaviour is a priority of the NSW Government’s State Plan, and the Roads and Traffic Authority has been charged with this task.

Warringah Council’s Road Safety Education program operates in conjunction with the RTA to target the road safety issues that most affect the people of Warringah.

Focusing on changing road user behaviour, the Road Safety Education program targets issues such as:

  • Speeding
  • Drink driving
  • Pedestrian safety
  • Learner and young drivers
  • Older drivers
