The Children's Services team provides child care for children and families in a variety of ways to meet different needs:

  • 4 Long Day Care Centres which provide high quality accredited centre-based care for children up to 6 years old.
  • Family Day Care: high quality home-based care service for children up to 12 years old.
  • Occasional Care for children to 6 years in 2 locations.
  • Vacation Care during all school holidays.

Our Community Services area manages our beach services and professional lifeguards and supports and resources community organisations and programs. The team provides disability advice, youth and recreation services administers community and annual grants, and develops and implements safety programs for the community, crime prevention, seniors' safety, child safety etc. Additionally, the service also manages our 23 Community Centres to ensure the provision of safe, clean centres for community use.

The Natural Environment Unit is responsible for driving environmental management and sustainable living in Warringah. This includes identifying and managing natural hazards such as flooding, bushfire and coastal erosion for the protection of life and property; maintaining and enhancing the diversity and resilience of ecosystems in bushland, lagoons and creeks; promoting sustainable living in Warringah and providing stormwater infrastructure that meets current and future community needs. Tracks and trails through sensitive natural environments are planned and designed by the Unit as well.

Roads, Traffic & Waste

Our Roads, Traffic & Waste area provides management and maintenance of Council roads, bridges, traffic facilities, footpaths, car parks, street furniture and provides advice in response to traffic related enquiries and traffic generating developments. It also provides Public Place Cleansing, collection services for domestic recycling, garbage, garden waste, and clean up, including disposal of collected materials and the management of Commercial waste contracts. Finally, this area provides advice and reports regarding engineering requirements of development proposals and subdivisions and supervises engineering works for other developments such as single dwellings, retail and industrial premises.

Parks, Reserves and Foreshores

This team is responsible for the planning, development and maintenance of Council's: open spaces (sports grounds, parks, reserves and gardens and related infrastructure such as barbeques, park furniture and signage as well as trees in streets and on Council reserves), recreation facilities (playgrounds, ocean rock pools and skate parks) and regional recreational venues Manly Dam and Stony Range. Council maintains an active relationship with local residents and sporting, recreation and community groups in planning for future sport and recreation needs.

Warringah Projects

This team provides internal project and contract management services for a variety of projects, including but not limited to those which are part of Council's annual Capital Works Program.

Warringah Aquatic Centre

The Warringah Aquatic Centre has been proudly owned and managed by Warringah Council since its opening in November 1979. The Centre provides its customers with:

  • an indoor Olympic size 50m pool with eight lanes (usually configured into two 25 metre pools)
  • 2 outdoor heated pools
  • a diving pool attached to the Olympic pool with two one-metre and one three-metre springboards
  • a kiosk/ café
  • a crèche available for children from six weeks to five years, with secure indoor and outdoor play areas

Our Aquatic Centre is well known within the industry for its 5 star safety rating, highly successful and recognised graded squads program for all levels of ability and its market leader position in terms of procedures, energy and water saving measures.

Glen Street Theatre

Glen Street Theatre is a 400 seat proscenium arch auditorium that presents a subscription season of professional theatre productions, quality children's shows and community events throughout the year including school productions and dance concerts. The venue also runs Sorlies Bistro, which offers pre-show dining and monthly literary lunches. Glen Street Theatre is located in Belrose on Sydney's north shore, approximately 20 minutes drive from the CBD.
