To celebrate National Recycling Week, Warringah Council is holding a clothes, accessory, book, CD/DVD swap event for children under 12 years old. The event is free and is part of Planet Ark's Big Aussie Swap that is taking place across Australia.

  • Tuesday, 10 November 2009, 10am - 12pm
  • The Tramshed, Berry Reserve
  • 1395a Pittwater Rd, Narrabeen

How it works

  • Raid your children's wardrobes, bookshelves, CD and DVD racks for items that they have grown out of and no longer use but think others will value.
  • Make sure they are clean, in good condition and neatly presented - ready for swapping.
  • There is a maximum of five items of clothing, five accessories, five books, and five CDs/DVDs per person.
  • Exchange your items for a numbered ticket. This can be done from 10am.
  • Swapping starts at 10.30am.
  • A talk will be held before just before the swapping begins to discuss ways to reduce waste.

Fashion facts

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I restricted in what I choose?

No, when you come you will be given a ticket indicating how many items you bring.  If, for example, you bring five items then you can choose up to five items.  It doesn’t matter whether it is clothing, accessories, books, CDs or DVDs.

If there are items left over where do they go?

Most of the items will be donated to a charity. Some are kept for the next time we hold a similar event.

What happens if I don’t find anything or less than what I brought?

All leftover items will be given to charity, it won’t be possible to take the item you brought with you home again.

Is it possible to  swap my daggy clothes for a designer outfit?

We only accept well presented, clean items in good condition. However, we do allow a good quality basic item to be traded for a designer outfit.
