Stony Range Botanic Garden - Federation Cascades
Page Updated: September 11, 2008

The Federation Cascades water feature was constructed by volunteers in 2001 to commemorate 100 years of Federation. Since then they have created their own ecosystem and now abound in lush plants and ferns.
The cascades use recycled water that is pumped to the top of the escarpment and flows down a natural water course and three man-made waterfalls. The cascades work off an automatic timer which switches on for a couple of hours daily.
Water stopped running down the cascades in June 2008 when, in an audacious copper theft, thieves stole the underground pipes that pumped water to the top of the escarpment. These pipes were replaced with non-metallic pipes in August 2008 and the cascades flowed once again.
