Draft Local Environmental Plan and Draft Development Control Plan
Council's draft Warringah Local Environmental Plan (LEP) and associated documents are on public exhibition October 12 to December 30, 2009, and can be viewed at: Public Exhibition of the Draft LEP. Council's draft Warringah Development Control Plan (DCP) and associated documents including three draft policies (Development Engineering Minor Works Specification, On-site Stormwater Detention Technical Specification, and Preliminary Environmental Assessment Belrose Transport Corridor) are on public exhibition November 2 to December 30, 2009, and can be viewed at: Public Exhibition of the Draft DCP.
Design Concept for Proposed Upgrade of The Strand, Dee Why
Council is inviting the community to view and comment on the design concept for The Strand, Dee Why upgrade works until Friday 8 January, 2010.

Living Library of Disability Books
The community is invited to chat with a ‘living book’ ie. person with disability, carer or service provider on Saturday 28 November at Warringah Mall Library Multi-function Room. Some of the fascinating ‘books’ available include Paralympians Lindy Hou and Scott Elsworth, adventurer Judith Geppert, cancer survivor Janette Leonard and service providers Lynn Bradford (Association for Children with a Disability), Maree Salzano (Side by Side Advocacy) and Desley Casey (mental health advocate). 2010 Australia Day Awards
Nominations are now open for Warringah Council’s 2010 Australia Day Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Community Event of the Year Awards. Nominations close 27 November.

Speak Up - Speak Out

If you have a disability or care for someone with a disability you may like to attend ‘Speak Up – Speak Out’. The advocacy information event will be held in conjuction with People with Disability and aims to assist people with a disability to learn about their rights, advocate for themselves, and how to access advocacy support services.

Ban E-Waste in Landfill
Don’t let your e-waste items end up in landfill. By recycling your e-waste, 98% of the materials are recovered and recycled to be used in the manufacturing of new products. E-waste includes TVs, computers, printers, scanners, modems, DVD players, CD players, VCRs and gaming machines. More on e-waste.
Freshwater Village Town Centre
Consideration of future development outcomes - land comprising Council's Oliver Street car park
Council has been asked by private landowners in the Freshwater Village Town Centre to consider the possibility of obtaining vehicular access over Council's Oliver Street car park to the rear of the properties on the northern side of Lawrence Street. To enable such an outcome, the new Warringah 'Standard Instrument' Local Environmental Plan would need to be amended. Council is seeking your views.
