Illegal Dumping

Littering and the dumping of goods, including building supplies and garden waste, is illegal. The most common type of litter in Australia is cigarette butts which take up to five years to break down.

Please ensure all litter is placed in a bin and materials not suitable for disposal in a bin are taken to Kimbriki or another suitable facility.

Fines for littering start from:

  • $60 for small items and extinguished cigarettes
  • $200 for a lit cigarette, general litter and littering from a vehicle
  • $375 for dangerous littering such as smashed bottles and discarding a lit cigarette in a fire ban
  • $750 for dumping items such as bags of rubbish, household appliances or furniture
