Media Release - A Facelift for Collaroy

February 21, 2012

Warringah Council has signed off on a million dollar contract to revamp the Collaroy streetscape.

The improvements will include new footpaths, new kerbs, new guttering, new paving, seats, bins and bike racks.

“The area will not only look great, but businesses will enjoy better access and there will be improved conditions for pedestrians,” said Warringah Mayor, Michael Regan.

“If you like what we’ve done at the Dee Why Strand, just wait until you see Collaroy. The work should be a great boost for one of our favourite places in the world.”

The improvements will begin in late April 2012 and are due to be finished in late September 2012

  • The Collaroy Surf Life Saving Club will be renovated during winter 2012 to improve disabled access and public amenities as well as making the building more environmentally friendly and attractive.
  • Council has also engaged a consultant to determine options for reconstructing the large stormwater outlet culvert.
