Media Release - Warringah's Water Wonderland
Warringah Council's free 2012 Hilltop to Headland environmental series will be bigger and better than ever, with four presenters lined up to deliver three spectacular events to entertain and inspire you into living more sustainably!
Hilltop to Headland kicks of this year on Sunday 26 February with Ranger Stacey presenting Warringah's Water Wonderland at Ted Jackson Reserve, Dee Why Beach from 10am.
The family-friendly event will see the popular TV personality and wildlife expert wow your family with underwater creatures.
"This year's Ranger Stacey Hilltop to Headland event will be a fun-filled family affair where both children and parents will be introduced to Warringah's wildlife – this time from our watery wonderland," said Warringah Mayor Michael Regan.
"Many of you will remember Ranger Stacey from last year's Hilltop to Headland event when she presented the Taronga Zoomobile. If you missed that event, you will definitely remember her from the hit TV show Totally Wild where she introduced us to much of Australia's unique wildlife.
"This year's first Hilltop to Headland event will include a wealth of free activities including a touch pool where you and your children can get up close and personal to the critters that live under the water.
"Plus there will be kids craft and bird watching, where you’ll see a variety of shorebirds including migratory species such as the Red-necked Stint, one of which was discovered recently to have been banded in China, over 8,000km away.
"Warringah is home to an incredible variety of creatures – both above ground and under the water. If you don't snorkel or scuba dive, here's a chance to see Warringah's wonderful aquatic life on firm ground!"
Following Ranger Stacey, TV personality and gardening guru John Dengate from Burke's Backyard will present 'Backyard Habitat – Is Yours Wildlife Friendly?' in March.
And in June, two big personalities, Dr Karl Kruszelnicki with the Surfing Scientist Ruben Meerman, will blow you away with their experiments including the biology of your bathroom, chemistry of your kitchen, science of your stormwater and the biodiversity of your backyard.
