Mediation Services
Page Updated: October 25, 2007
Council's mediation service will help with disputes over development applications, and environmental matters. It will also help with other issues relating to Council's role in the community.
This service gives you an opportunity to settle disputes without costly and lengthy court proceedings. The service is freely available to residents, businesses and community organisations.
Mediation… is a voluntary process where people in a dispute come together to find a solution to their dispute with the help of an independent and impartial mediator.
What are the steps in mediation?
- Complete the Application for Mediation form
- Council's Team Leader of the Community Liaison & Review Team will contact all parties involved and ask whether they are willing to enter into the process
- A pre-mediation meeting may be called to clarify the issues and prepare for the mediation session
- The parties and the independent mediator then conduct the mediation at a mutually convenient time and place
- The mediation will result in a signed agreement, a partial agreement or no agreement at all
