Transport Planning - Warringah Bicycle Plan
In 1998, Warringah Council adopted the Warringah Bicycle Plan, which was developed in consultation with bicycle users, the community, and the Roads & Traffic Authority. The aim of the Bicycle Plan is to provide suitable bike routes and facilities to promote cycling and enhance the safety of cyclists. The Plan identifies future bicycle infrastructure, including various on and off road bicycle routes to service different types of bicycle users, and includes a schedule of prioritised works.
Council, in conjunction with the Roads & Traffic Authority of NSW, is progressively implementing the Bicycle Plan. For example a bike path was recently provided from Dee Why Beach to and along Pittwater Road to Lismore Ave. A substantial part of the bike network has already been completed and the remaining sections are being considered for funding in Council’s Management Plan. Council aims to review the Warringah Bicycle Plan in the near future to reflect new studies and initiatives commenced since 1998.
