Prizes, Competitions and Cultural Events
Northern Beaches Council hosts cultural events throughout the year. These include the popular Guringai Festival and the annual Warringah Art Exhibition which has become the most prestigious art competition on the northern beaches, drawing artists from all over NSW. Forest Community Arts Centre and the Tramshed Arts and Community Centres in Narrabeen both hold annual art and craft events that showcase creativity in our area.
Courses and Training
Our commitment to creativity is reflected in the range of art and craft classes offered to people of all ages and abilities at our Community Centres, Community Colleges and the TAFE Northern Institute at Brookvale.
We support creative practice in our area by providing quality venues and creative spaces including Glen Street Theatre and YOYO's and the Creative Space.
Council Grants and Funding
Our grants and funding program supports the professional development of creative workers in our community and seeks to enhance our cultural landscape.
Council acknowledges the heritage and culture of the Guringai people who are the original owners of this coastal area. Our support of the Aboriginal Heritage Office reflects that acknowledgement. The Aboriginal Heritage Office (AHO) was established in 2000 to protect and preserve Aboriginal heritage in the northern Sydney region.
