Surfing

A surf before work. A surf after work. A quick dip at lunchtime. Discover why we say, ‘life’s a beach.’

The beach is at the centre of daily life in Warringah. World champions carve our waves. Thousands of recreational board riders hit the surf every day. We have six rockpools, each unique, each with its own community. Council lifeguards and our famous volunteer life saving clubs keep an eye on everyone. Remember to swim between the flags!

Council Lifeguards

Professional Council lifeguards patrol beaches during summer to help keep you safe. We patrol Dee Why and Freshwater from 1 September, 2012 until Sunday 26 May, 2013. All other beaches are patrolled from 22 September until Anzac Day, 25 April, 2013. All of our beaches are patrolled seven days a week except Narrabeen, which is patrolled on weekends, public holidays and during the school holidays. Beaches are generally patrolled between 9am-5pm. From December-February hours are extended and are normally 9am-6pm.

We recommend you avoid swimming for three days after heavy rain. Please remember, no dogs are allowed on our beaches or rockpools.
