Urban Bushland Reserves Plan of Management
| Urban Bushland Reserves Plan of Management for Collaroy Escarpment Reserves, Lionel Watts Reserve & Frenchs Forest Showground | Aug 2009 | |
Council adopted this plan at its meeting on 11th August 2009. The plan provides guidance on the management of these bushland reserves. The main value of the bushland parts of these reserves is conservation of remnant bushland in an urban setting. Enjoyment of the magnificent views is another value at Collaroy Escarpment. The reserves also have aesthetic and scientific/educational value. Parts of the Collaroy Escarpment Reserves supports Narrabeen Escarpment Scrub, a vegetation community threatened in Warringah. Lionel Watts /Frenchs Forest Showground supports the endangered ecological community Duffys Forest (DFEC). The actions in the plan focus on protecting these values, with the ecological value of the bushland being the primary value. Council’s primary management intention for the reserves is to conserve and restore the bushland through weed control, fencing, closure of selected tracks and bush regeneration. The Plan contains management actions for Council to manage the remnants of Duffys Forest Ecological Community at Lionel Watts Reserve, particularly with fencing and weed control. It also contains actions designed to strengthen the corridor function of the Collaroy Escarpment Reserves. For example, it recommends dealing with encroachments, expanding the area under bush regeneration and fencing vulnerable vegetation. |
