YouthLinx (previously YAZZ) is a groupwork based recreation program to assist social and life skill development in young people aged 11 to 16. The program also offers support and educational opportunities to families involved in the program and the wider community. Council's YouthLinx project is funded by the Australian Government under the YouthLinx program.
Activity Groups
YouthLinx offers recreational opportunities
such as team building afternoons, rock
climbing, ferry rides and bushwalking in a
safe and supportive environment to promote peer interaction and the development of self esteem, social and life skills.
Young people may be referred to the
program by their school and programs are
usually run one afternoon per week for
one to two school terms. Excursions may include a one to three day snow, canoeing or adventure camp.
The YouthLinx program is specifically for young people who may be socially isolated, anxious,
have difficulties with making and keeping
friends or who have low self-esteem.
