Play Area and Activities
The crèche provides secure indoor and outdoor play areas. An indoor enclosed area allows babies to play and crawl safely, and the outdoor area is securely fenced and equipped with soft fall and sun tuff roofing.
A variety of toys and activities are available to keep the children happy and occupied. Some activities are restricted to certain age groups and the number of children in our care at the time, eg. play dough, water play, painting, sandpit and craft.
Facilities
We have a child-size toilet and washbasin with viewing windows for safety and security. Nappy changing facilities are available (please supply nappies and nappy wipes), as is hot water to heat bottles and a fridge to store milk etc.
Guidelines and Procedures
In order to provide a safe, secure and happy environment for your child while you enjoy the centre's facilities, we ask that the following guidelines and procedures are followed:
- You must remain on the premises at all times while your child is in our care.
- The facility cares for children for a maximum of 1.5 hours and closes at 12.15pm sharp from Monday to Friday. Please be prompt in collecting your child.
- If you have arranged for someone else to collect your child, this person's details must be entered under the 'Special Instructions' column in the attendance book when you arrive at the crèche. You must also advise a staff member verbally, or your child will NOT be released to this other person's care.
- Please inform a staff member if your child has any allergies or special needs. Please note that it is our policy NOT to administer any medication to children in our care. This is the responsibility of parents. Our staff are Anaphylaxis trained.
- Please DO NOT BRING SICK CHILDREN to the crèche. We cannot accept as them as we have to prevent spreading illness to other children and staff. If your child is too sick to go to childcare, kindy or school, they are too sick to come to the crèche.
- Please DO NOT bring sharp objects, money or small items. If it fits into a film canister it could be swallowed by smaller children.
- Please apply sunscreen to your child and has a hat to wear so they are protected when they play outside. In summer we have a 'no hat, no outside play' policy for the grassed uncovered play area.
- Please write your child's name on your cash register receipt for childminding and place it in the blue box located near the attendance book on the sign-in table.
- Complete the attendance book every time you bring your child to the crèche. You are asked to provide your name, your child's name and age, and state what activity you are doing while in the centre. You must sign in and the time. You also need to list any special needs or instructions for your child, such as allergies, toilet training, feeding, teething, cuddle rug, dummy and sleeping. When returning to the crèche please enter the time you collected your child and your signature.
- Please LABEL EVERYTHING! If it isn't labelled, it can't be used! Labels and masking tape are provided at the crèche. We ask that you label your child's backpack, change of clothes (particularly for children who are toilet training), nappies, stroller (for younger children - something they are familiar with), drink bottles, dummy, hat and sunscreen, and cuddly (if needed). Please assist our staff by placing all of these labelled items in the crèche lockers.
- Please also use the masking tape and texta to write your child's name for a label on their back. This is then easy to read from a distance.
- NO FOOD. Due to an increase of childhood allergies our facility no longer permits food (drinks are still permissible). Please do not give your child any food until outside the crèche rooms as some allergies are transferable by touch. Thank you.
We trust that your child will have an enjoyable time at the Warringah Aquatic Centre Crèche, giving you time to relax and enjoy your exercise/leisure time during your visit to the centre.
