Temporary Signs

You can make a booking to place your banner in one of Council's approved sites through Council's Reserves Booking Office on 9942 2545.

Banners or temporary signs should announce local events of a religious, educational, cultural, political, social or recreational character or relate to such events.

Signage must not include advertising of a commercial nature (with the exception of the names of the event's sponsors). It must not be displayed earlier than 28 days before the event and must be removed within seven days after the event.

Guidelines for Installation of Non-Council Signage On Public Land

  1. Banners
    • The signage is not obstructing pedestrian access
    • The signage does not cause any undue inconvenience or risk to the public
    • The signage is securely attached
    • The signage must be booked through Council's Reserves Booking Office on 9942 2545
    • The signage must be located at one of the following approved sites:
      • Brookvale - cnr of Pittwater Road and Condamine Street, Brookvale (opposite the Mall). Signage is permitted on the fence only

      • Freshwater - Oliver Street, Freshwater. Oliver Street hill right inside going up the hill just before Lawrence Street. Signage is permitted on the poles only

      • Dee Why – Council carpark at cnr Pittwater Road and St David Avenue, Dee Why. Signage is permitted for major Council events only.

    Any signage not adhering to the guidelines may be impounded and taken to the Depot and an impounding fee charged. Signs that have been impounded and not collected within 30 days may be destroyed by Council. Council may also issue a warning letter to the advertising owner to remove/move the sign. A re-inspection may occur to ensure the appropriate action was made and a PIN may be issued and/or the Notice of Intention to serve an order and Orders may be issued.
