How to Apply

To apply for positions within our organisation, please click on any listed position on the 'Current Career Opportunities' page (see links section).

As part of our recruitment process you will complete an online application form which should take you up to 30 minutes. There is no facility to allow you to save your application so please ensure you have sufficient time to complete the application at once.

You will first be asked to upload your resume. Supporting documents can be uploaded at a later stage in the online application process. There is the ability to attach a resume (if you did not attach it at the registration stage), a document outlining your response to the relevant selection criteria and a covering letter if there is more that you want to tell us about. These documents can be uploaded on the page headed 'Documents' and all documents should preferably be in Word .doc or RTF format and should be no larger than 2Mb.

Prior to starting the application process please ensure you have the following details:

  • Your current email address to allow us to confirm that we have received your application.
  • The names and phone numbers of two or more current referees. The selection panel might need to contact them to find out more about you. It is important that your nominated referees know you are applying for the position. Your referees will not be contacted without your knowledge.
  • A document outlining your responses to the relevant selection criteria. For each position there are essential (and sometimes desirable) criteria as listed in the online advertisement. These essential criteria must be met if you are to fulfil the duties and responsibilities of the position. If you don't show how you meet the criteria, your application is unlikely to be considered further. What you write and how you answer each of the selection criteria will determine whether or not you are interviewed. When addressing each criterion you should consider your response in terms of qualification, knowledge, skills, abilities and relevant work experience. Our experience tells us that addressing the essential selection criteria can take quite some time. We would strongly recommend that you address the required selection criteria (found in the job advertisement) offline prior to commencing your online application. Your document with the responses must be uploaded at the 'Documents' page of the application process.

All of this information will help us to process your application effectively.

Do not feel disheartened if there are no career opportunities posted in your desired field at this point in time. This site is updated regularly with new career opportunities with Warringah Council as they become available.

Your application should be lodged by the closing date. An acknowledgment email or letter will be sent to advise that your application has been received.

Good luck.
